In the course of our work on the Yamuna, Swechha realized that the people who live along the banks of the River need attention as much as the River herself. The condition of those settled along the Delhi banks is particularly dismal. Most of them either work as rag pickers, coin divers or boatmen, their children never receiving the education they ought to in order for them to rise above the vicious cycles of poverty. We thus began "Pagdandi School" where our committed volunteers would teach small groups of children who lived and worked along the Yamuna in Delhi.
